You can’t visit Liverpool and not do a good stint in its famed Cavern Quarter. Especially if you’re a Beatles fan, as it's central to their story, particularly the Cavern Club, which they played nearly 300 times in their early days. But there are tributes to the fab four all over this lively district.
Cavern Quarter is also full of top-notch eateries that allow you to stay nicely fueled on your Beatles’ pilgrimage. And to help you decide which ones to choose, here, in no particular order, we list our top five (or our fab five, even). From fancy French moules to traditional fish and chips, there’s something here for every palate.
1) dash - asian infused fine dining
Delicious Asian cuisine and perfectly crafted cocktails for any special occasions!
This is one of the area’s newest restaurants and has deservedly proven an instant hit. It’s a stylish spot with a DJ playing and distinctly glamorous vibe. Definitely one to get your glad rags on for. The menu of international cuisine is all about quality over quantity — what they do at Dash, they do extremely well. The imaginative drinks menu deserves special mention. Sectioned according to periods in American history, we were instantly drawn to the offerings of ‘The Disco Era’. Groovy.

2) bistro pierre - an authentic french restaurant
The prices at this Gallic gem in the heart of Cavern Quarter are incroyable for the high standard of food served. They also do great deals such as ‘Fizz Friday’, where you get two courses and a bottle of prosecco for just £24.95 per person. The menu changes frequently to ensure all dishes are fresh and seasonal, but their moules are a mainstay, and never fail to delight.

3) casa italia - delicious italian dishes and pizza
Casa Italia may not look particularly fancy, but don’t let that deter you. Many regard the food here as the most authentic and delicious Italian in Liverpool. And personally, we find the no fuss décor adds to its rustic charms. Everything here is home cooked. Including the breads and pizza. You might have to queue for a table, especially at weekends, but it’s worth it. The Lumaconi Pollo al Forno is perhaps our favourite dish here. So creamy, so cheesy, so ‘chicken-y’. Come to mama!

4) tiger rock: best thai, chinese, singaporean and vietnamese inspired cuisine
If Asian street food is your thing (and frankly, why wouldn’t it be?) then this is the spot for you. The small plates and big bowls of Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Vietnamese and Laotian-inspired fare allow you to try all kinds of interesting concoctions. But tempting as it is to eat your way through each one, you must keep room for dessert. Because if their apple spring rolls are wrong, then we don’t want to be right.

5) yanni’s traditional fish and chips (also known as yanni’s chippy)
You can’t beat a good fish and chips. And it’s hard to find better than Yanni’s, which is so popular that queues sometimes snake down the street. Their light as a feather batter is partly responsible for this, as is their curry sauce, which contains some magic secret ingredient that makes it the tastiest curry sauce in all of Merseyside. Grab your order to go, pick a perch nearby, and chow down to the sights of the world go by and the sounds of the area's many buskers play. And on a bit of an aside, do please allow us to sign off here with this quirkily enjoyable 1965 video of the Beatles eating fish and chips while occasionally miming along to ‘I Feel Fine’. Because this is one of the few contexts in which it makes perfect sense. Enjoy!
